The following calendars are to help students and staff plan for and schedule their Food Handler Card testing and renewal. All students and staff who work with food (preparing or serving) are required to have an up-to-date Food Handler's Card.
Classes and testing are listed in one of two groups—either "Private" or "Public." To attend a "Public" testing, you must e-mail: ChildNutrition@auburn.wednet.edu prior to the event to register.
There is no charge to attend a Public class (you do need $10 for the card though).
To take the test, every applicant must bring a check made out to the Washington Restaurant Association for $10. DO NOT bring cash. You must also bring personal ID (Driver's License or Student Picture ID).
- The first time you take the test—the card is good for two (2) years.
- If you are renewing a card and bring a current card or a copy of a current card that is due to expire within 60 days, the new card (if you pass the test) is good for three (3) years.
- It takes about two (2) weeks after the test to get your card.
**If you would like to request or host a Private class at your location, certified instructors are available for a cost of $50 per class (up to two (2) hours and up to 30 test takers). In-District staff/teachers can request a class for a cost of $25 (with certain conditions). Anyone can request a class/testing by e-mailing: ChildNutrition@auburn.wednet.edu. The class cannot be paid by those taking the test-it may only be paid by a sponsoring agent.
