Auburn Veterans Day Marching Band Competition on November 7
On November 7, Auburn Senior High School will host the 23rd annual Auburn Veterans Day Marching Band Competition from 1:00-10:00 p.m. at Auburn Memorial Stadium, sponsored by the Auburn Band Parents Association.
More than 30 high school marching bands from Washington, Oregon and Idaho will compete in this year’s Parade and Field Show Competition. The event features performances in marching band music, precision (marching) and drill (formation). Auburn’s Veterans Day Marching Band Competition is the Pacific Northwest’s largest and longest running marching band competition according to Auburn Senior High School Alumni Band Parent Rep and Veterans Day Chair Sue Hoffman.
Many of the bands will appear in the 44th annual Veterans Day Parade beginning at 11:00 a.m. along Main Street, which constitutes preliminary marching competition. Among those are all three of Auburn’s high school marching bands: Auburn Senior High School, Auburn Riverside High School and Auburn Mountainview High School.
Auburn’s Mayor Pete Lewis and his wife Kathy, Assistant Superintendent of the Auburn School District Louanne Decker and Auburn Senior High School principal Richard Zimmerman will present the awards following a full Band Retreat after 9:30 p.m. Sue Hoffman is pleased to announce special guest performances by the Seattle Seahawk’s “Blue Thunder” and the Seattle Sounders FC “Soundwave” drum corps to cap off the day’s events.
Auburn’s Veterans Day Marching Band Competition benefits the Band Programs at Auburn Senior High School, including Marching Band, Pep Band, Jazz Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble and Percussion Ensembles.
Ticket prices for all day admission are: Adults $14, Students (6-18) $10, Senior Citizens (62+) $10. Children under 5 are free. The public is encouraged to purchase tickets from Auburn High School band members, with ID, as a percentage of each ticket they sell is credited to their student band account.
