The Auburn High School Forensics team and community also host the largest high school sponsored tournament in the Northwest, and one of the largest in the nation. Each year, students from up to eighty different schools and from all over the West come to Auburn on the first weekend in December and spend two days debating, speaking, and all around having fun at the Auburn Valley Invitational. This tournament is one of the only stops on the national circuit that local schools get to attend. The very best debaters, each year, win "bids" to the national Tournament of Champions, held in Kentucky each May. Auburn's tournament has the most "bids" to the T.O.C. of any high school sponsored tournament on the West Coast.
