Guitar class beginning and advanced are a great way to learn new techniques and how to play. I took beginning guitar class my freshmen year and learned a lot of new styles and ways to play better. In beginning guitar class you will learn everything from how to tune a guitar the notes of the fret boards and picking styles. You will need to learn a few notes, chords and have to learn a few songs. You will also have tests on the notes just to ensure that you know them and are imbedded in your brain. There are also instructional videos that are an added bonus to help you with your guitar playing. I also took advanced guitar my sophomore year and learned a whole bunch more of helpful guitar techniques. You not only get to play songs that the teachers asks you to play but you can learn songs that you want to know how to play also. You can even play songs that you wrote and get extra credit for it. You will be required to learn more notes than in beginning guitar but if you've taken beginning before advanced it will be easy. You will need to learn notes between the 1st and 5th fret on all the strings, which revolves around the notes A through F. But it will be easy as long as you take notes during lectures and read the handouts that explain the notes and what they are. By the time you are done with the class you not only know how to play but also you will know the notes of the fret board, new chords, and even alternate tunings. Take it from me I'm a guitar player that's now in a band that has played many successful shows. ---- Tyler Parrino (of DeatHPerceptioN)

During my sophmore year I took guitar class, and even though I had some previous expierence I learned so many new tunings, picking styles, notes, chords, songs that it has made me much better. The class is a great way to fine tune skills if you have them, and even if you're just a beginner you can learn essential skills that can cost a lot of money to pay for outside of school. Not only does the class teach you to play guitar, you get a credit for it! Fine Arts credits are required to graduate from Auburn High School so you might as well have fun learning while getting credit. I found the class to be a very enjoyable experience and it has lead me further down the path of music. Take it from us both, because I am also in a band. ---- Cory Jones (of DeatHPerceptioN)
