  4. Fibula: wire-working skills with pliers, balance, color
  5. Three Soldered Rings: declare ring size, two more soldered rings of different varieties. Skills are measuring, sizing, butt joint soldering, finish
  6. Cast Ring: layout skills on file-a-wax, filing, subtractive sculpture, wax to metal conversion, casting process
  7. Sweat Soldering: positive/negetive space relationships, sweat soldering
  8. Enamel with Stencils: color, compsition, variety, balance

FINAL: BEST WORK PRESENTATION

  1. Describe piece and how it was made
  2. What do they like best about this piece?
  3. What they will do with this piece?
  4. What was the most important thing that they learned while planning and making this piece?

Advanced Curriculum

  1. Bezel Construction and Cabochon Setting: making a piece with multiple solder joints, stone setting of a cabochon
  2. Tube Setting: learning how to construct and set a faceted stone into a tube setting
  3. Mold Making / Casting: learning how to make a one part mold, producing multiple waxes from one mold, sprue-up/investing/casting review. Build an awareness of textures in nature
  4. Cast or Fabricated Stone Set Piece
  5. Chain Making: learning solderless chain construction - Byzantine and other types of chain
  6. Commemorative Medal / Commission Jewelry Piece: narrative jewelry, communication, planning of a project

Contract Study Curriculum

  1. Self-Portrait: belt buckle or bracelet
  2. Narrative Piece: necklace arrangement or architectural form
  3. Kinetic Piece: hinged parts
  4. Series of Three: pieces that would be displayed together
