Arthur Jacobsen Elementary

It was wonderful that all of the families were able to attend Conferences.  What a pleasure to see you all and get a chance to share the Report Card.  I hope that the information was useful and informative.  If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me by phone, note or email.  My school email is:

This week is a short one, with the Thanksgiving Vacation.  There is no school, Thursday and Friday, November 22-23th.  It’s a wonderful time for families.  I hope that you and your family enjoy your time together.

Third Grade News

Scholastic Book Club Cares

What proud parents you should all be!  Your children took the challenge from Scholastic Book Club to read 100 books.  Friday the challenge was met!  Scholastic will now donate 100 books to a less fortunate school. What a caring thing to do.  Way to go boys and girls!   .

Short Week

· No Homework

· No Spelling Test

· No Reading Test

What a week!

Students in my class are expected to read at home 15-30 minutes every night, even when there is No Homework!.  I want my students to be the very best Third Graders they can be—Reading is the tool that can do it!  Please encourage reading by reading together and providing an example.  We’re always reading something, the newspaper, a magazine or the TV Guide.  Point out how Reading helps your day, too.

Field Trip

Only two weeks left to send in your check for the Seattle Children’s Theater ticket.  Remember we must have the $10.50 before December 3, 2007.  We have three chaperones from our classroom.  We’re going to have a terrific day, January 23, 2008!  Checks payable to AJ Student Council.
