AJ PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Welcome to the 2007-2008 Physical Education program.. I am excited and looking forward to teaching many fun, lifelong fitness skills to all the 3-5 grade students three times per week at AJ School.

In our P.E. program, students will participate in many activities that promote physical fitness, movement and sports skills, sportsmanship, and team cooperation. Activities are designed to meet individual abilities and insure fun and success for all. You can help make your child’s P.E. time an enjoyable experience by assisting me in the following procedures:

1.     Make sure that your child dresses appropriately for P.E. Rubber soled tennis/court shoes provide the best safety and comfort. Comfortable clothes and shorts under dresses are highly recommended.

2. Provide your child with a written excuse when he/she is to be excused from P.E.

Every child is expected to participate unless he/she has a note from home. When

sending a note, please explain the reason and the length of time your child is to

    be excused from physical activities.

Students will be expected to actively participate and follow class safety rules and expectations. Listed  below are five expectations for all students:

     1.  Respect others               4.  Positive attitude

2.     Play safe                        5.  Give 100% effort

3.  Have fun

“THINK TIME” – Students that do not meet the above expectations will be given a “Think Time.” This discipline method takes the student out of the gym and gives them time to reflect on the problem in another classroom. Upon completing the “Think Time” process, they are permitted back into the gym to finish PE with their class.

I will be teaching at AJ Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday this year. I will be teaching at Lea Hill the other two days each week.

Physical Education is an important element to every child’s education, and my hope is that each child at Lea Hill School will see its value, making fitness and recreational  activities an everyday part of their lives.

Sincerely,

Mr. Hess
