Text Box: COUNSELOR’S CORNER Text Box: Happenings Around AJ Text Box: I cover one classroom of grade level teaming each day from 1:30-2:00. I am with 5th grade on Monday, 4th on Tuesday, 3rd on Wednesday, 2nd on Thursday and 1st on Friday. We started out the year with getting to know lessons ie. People bingo, family and friend drawings. Then we moved onto different cooperation activities. We are trying to build a sense of community in the classroom by learnText Box: ing to work together in all types of situations. Now we are moving onto our BeCool lessons. BeCool is a Conflict Management Program that teaches students to stay in control of their feelings and behavior during conflict and frustrating situations. With BeCool, I’ll teach the students how to avoid being a Victim (Cold) or a Hothead (Hot) in responding to these “difficult” situations and act assertively Text Box: (Cool) instead. The grade level teaming coverage is divided into three 12 week periods for the year. I am with Capponi, Gardner, Eastman, Jackson, and Archer for this first 12 week round. At the end of November I move onto the next classes and start my lessons over again!! If you have any questions please feel free to call.
