Classroom Update:

Math:  The students have been very successful in Unit 2 math so far.  Next week we will focus on how adding and subtracting whole numbers applies to the “real world” by solving number stories.  Again, all students should be working on their basic math facts fluency at home as well as in school.

Reading: Allie’s Basketball Dream is our story for next week.  We will be working on summarizing stories using the narrative elements, such as characters, setting, problem, and solution.  Students will also practice using a dictionary.

Writing:  The students did very well writing their personal narratives this week.  Next week they will be able to write a fiction story about a character that faces and solves a problem.

Science:  Next week we will begin the sound unit for science.  The students will learn all about how different sounds are made and heard.
