Volunteering opportunities:

There are many ways you can help other and give back to your community. The ideas and resources listed below might help you get started, but you do not need to limit yourself to these.

IDEAS for VOLUNTEER SERVICE
Join a service club such as Key Club, National Honor Society, etc.
Weed, mow, plant, clean, organize a closet etc. for an elderly or disabled person.
Volunteer at a local Food Bank.
AMHS Food Drive in January. Help to box up food after school to earn service hours.
Organize a fund raiser for charity.
Help to run a youth group.
Run/walk in a charity fund Raiser.
Help a teacher after school.
Adopt a "grandparent" at a nursing or care facility.
Volunteer at a mission or shelter for the homeless serving meals, cleaning or decorating for a holiday.
Adopt an elderly care facility. Decorate for the different holidays, bring in entertainment, etc.
Volunteer at the YMCA in their after school programs.
Volunteer your time at a hospital.
Volunteer for child care duty at your church or other organization.
Tutor someone.

There are many, many more ideas.... Use your imagination and JUST DO IT!

Y Kid’s University after school program at Lakeland Hills Elementary. Teach or tutor younger kids 2 times a week for 6 weeks. Sports, languages, cheerleading, arts and crafts

Pacific Science Center
Experience Science Hands-on
Receive training on presentation skills, interacting one-on-one with visitors to the Science Center.
Expand your knowledge about science.
Meet new friends with shared interests, have fun, and gain an experience of community.
Discovery Corps offers the chance to apply for paid positions through their internship program at the Pacific Science Center. Gain an opportunity to assist in developing new curriculum, how to operate the planetarium, present shows to the public, learn to care for the butterfly house, and much more.

University of Washington Medical Center - Teen Program
Teens (ages 14 and older) play a major role in the volunteer program at UW Medical Center. Teens give of their time all year long, volunteering after school, on weekends, and/or during summer months They can volunteer as escorts, transporting patients, specimens, and paperwork throughout the medical center.
