NEWS RELEASE
Community Input on High School Growth Issues

The Auburn School Board of Directors decided at the March 25 school board meeting, to invite citizens to participate on two new ad hoc committees which will make recommendations on the high school growth issue given the recent failures of bond issues to build a new high school.  One committee will review the conclusions and recommendations of the 1985 and 1995 ad hoc committees relating to high school enrollment growth and will review possible financing plans for new facilities.  The first meeting of the committee reviewing previous ad hoc conclusions will be on Tuesday, May 7.  The other committee will develop recommendations for accommodating high school growth for the next ten years if the new high school is not built.  The first meeting of the committee to develop recommendations should a new high school not be built will be held on Wednesday, May 29.  Both meetings will commence at 7 p.m. and will be held in the Board Room of the James P. Fugate Administration Building, 915 4th Street Northeast.

Community members interested in serving on either committee should contact Ruth Johns at (253) 931-4917.

Participation on one of the two new committees will be a great opportunity for providing input on critical educational planning.
