Lea Hill Teacher and Class Chosen as
2005 Earth Hero for King County

Lea Hill Elementary School teacher, Mary Mondt, and her fourth graders were chosen as a 2005 Earth Hero for King County. For the past nine years, Ms. Mondt and each of her fourth grade classes have been Green Team members for King County. Out of the nine years, five times her students earned the title of King County’s Green Team-of-the-Year for being habitat preservers and waste reducers. This year, Ms. Mondt and her fourth graders focused on developing a salmon hatching habitat.

Ms. Mondt is noted as an outstanding individual who has inspired groups to celebrate the importance of protecting and enhancing the natural environment. She and six guests will be honored by King County Executive Ron Sims at a ceremony on Thursday, May 5 at Maplewood Greens in Renton.
