Anne Baunach Receives Board of Directors'
Gold Star Volunteer Award
The Auburn School District Board of Directors presented the Gold Star Volunteer Award to Anne Baunach, in recognition of her selfless contribution to district citizen and campaign committees, at the April 5 board meeting. Ms. Baunach’s commitment to the district is evident. Most recently Anne co-chaired the attendance area committee, working diligently to ensure a balanced and fair boundary change. She also co-chairs Auburn Citizens for Schools and volunteers for the Auburn School District Levy/Bond Publications Committee and Terminal Park Elementary.
Over the years as a district volunteer, Ms. Baunach has witnessed the fruits of passing two construction bonds, a technology and bus levy, as well as three maintenance and operations levies. “I see the benefits of those successful campaigns each day in my children’s education. I remember the first time I visited the new Auburn Mountainview campus. It was so exciting to see the finished product and how all those hours of attending community coffee gatherings, making phone calls, waving signs, and preparing mailings paid off.”
Ms. Baunach’s volunteer spirit reaches beyond the school district to community organizations. She is a member of Soroptimist International of Auburn, a volunteer at Messiah Lutheran Church, and a member of the City of Auburn Arts Commission.
Some may wonder where Ms. Baunach finds the time and energy to wholeheartedly volunteer in not one, but in multiple capacities. “I live my life by a Margaret Meade quote, ‘Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever does.’ I give back to my community because I believe I can make a difference,” reflects Ms. Baunach. She sure does.
