NEWS RELEASE
Auburn Family Selected for Home Makeover

On April 29, the Wolf family from Auburn’s Lea Hill area will wake up in their much loved, hazardous, older house, but fall asleep in a beautifully updated home. The home makeover entails installing a new furnace and flooring, drywall and a roof, remodeling the kitchen and bath, adding new landscaping, painting inside and out, building a deck, and adding a gabled front door entry and surprise interior decorating accents for the girls’ bedrooms as well as the master bedroom.

Rebuilding Together South Sound (RTSS), an affiliate of the national non-profit organization Rebuilding Together U.S.A. (formerly Christmas in April), is the mastermind behind the home makeover. RTSS brings together community volunteers to help low-income homeowners continue to live in warm, safe and independent homes. RTSS selects homes of the elderly, people with disabilities and families with children to rejuvenate on two national Rebuilding Days—one in the fall and one in the spring.

The Wolf’s home on April 29 is just 1 of 27 homes that will be repaired and cleaned up in the South Sound. Over 500 volunteers make these Rebuilding Days possible, offering a hard day’s labor to better their communities and the lives of their friends and neighbors. Companies and community groups donate money to sponsor a house so that materials can be purchased at no cost to the homeowners. RTSS also provides year-round services such as minor home repairs or modifications for the homeowners they help on Rebuilding Days.
