NEWS RELEASE
Two Auburn School District Principals Named Communities
in Schools (CIS) of Auburn
Outstanding Educators of the Year
Tim Carstens, principal of Terminal Park Elementary School, and Eric Daniel, principal of Washington Elementary School, were named Communities in Schools (CIS) of Auburn Outstanding Educators of the Year.
Mr. Carstens and Mr. Daniel are the site coordinators for two of the five CIS before- and after-school tutoring programs. They dedicate numerous hours to the success and management of their programs. Both Mr. Carstens and Mr. Daniel interview and hire staff, oversee payroll, and manage issues related to student behavior and attendance. By pooling their efforts with CIS of Auburn, Mr. Carstens and Mr. Daniel are able to provide more resources to Auburn children.
In addition to running an exceptional after-school program, Mr. Carstens supports the annual CIS of Auburn fundraiser by selling tickets and securing donations. The proceeds from the fundraiser sustain the tutoring programs.
Mr. Daniel will be leaving Washington next year to become principal at the new Arthur Jacobson Elementary School. His connection with Washington’s CIS after-school program will be sorely missed.
CIS of Auburn coordinates high quality before- and after-school tutoring and enrichment programs at Dick Scobee Elementary, Gildo Rey Elementary, Pioneer Elementary, Terminal Park Elementary and Washington Elementary Schools for third, fourth and fifth graders identified as needing assistance before making the important transition to middle school.
