NEWS RELEASE
Auburn Riverside High School Teacher to Be Inducted into
National Teachers Hall of Fame

Auburn Riverside High School teacher Geri Rohlff will take her place among the best teachers in America during a three-day induction into the National Teachers Hall of Fame (NTHF) June 14-16 in Emporia, Kansas.

Mrs. Rohlff will learn of her award at a surprise school-wide assembly in the Auburn Riverside High School gymnasium on Thursday, April 19, at 2:05 p.m. In June, she will join teachers from Nevada, Florida, Tennessee and Kansas for a series of recognition events in Emporia, Kansas, which include community events, a roundtable discussion, a banquet and induction ceremony, and a tour of the surrounding prairie.

A 31-year veteran of the classroom, Mrs. Rohlff teaches Language Arts/Study Skills/Alternative Education at Auburn Riverside High School in Auburn, Washington.  “Geri Rohlff is the only teacher I have ever seen who reaches so many students at such extreme levels on a daily basis,” remarks Auburn Riverside High School principal Bruce Phillips.

The National Teachers Hall of Fame was founded in Emporia, Kansas, in 1989 to honor elementary and secondary teachers and the teaching profession through a recognition program and museum. Nominees must be certified public or non-public school teachers, active or retired, with at least 20 years of experience in teaching grades pre-K-12.

Since the inaugural induction ceremonies in 1992, 80 educators from 33 states and the District of Columbia have been inducted. This year’s class of inductees represents the 16th anniversary of NTHF induction ceremonies.

The National Teachers Hall of Fame induction is sponsored this year by Sodexho School Services, The New York Times Knowledge Network, Pearson Education and Herff Jones, Inc.

Biographies of Mrs. Rohlff and the four other teachers will be available at www.nthf.org after April 19. To request biographies, please call the National Teachers Hall of Fame at 1-800-96-TEACH or 620-341-5660. A list of current NTHF members, a fact sheet and schedules for the 16th Annual Induction may be found on the website or by calling the National Teachers Hall of Fame.
