Washington Elementary School Announces New Principal

Pauline Thomas has been named principal of Washington Elementary commencing with the 2007-08 school year.

Currently Ms. Thomas is the assistant principal at Cascade Middle School. She has worked in the school district since 2004, contributing both at the building and district level. Ms. Thomas has served on the Special Education Curriculum Review, In-Service Advisory, 6-8 Writing Assessment, K-6 Reading Adoption, K-6 Reading Assessment Sub Committee, 7-8 Reading Adoption Committee,  Middle School Curriculum and Instruction Sub-committee, Interview team for Intern Principal candidates, Interview Team for transportation, District Coordinator for Washington Service Corps, Attendance Area Committee and Community Gang Prevention Committee.

Prior to her time at Cascade Middle School, Ms. Thomas was a special education resource teacher at Mattson Junior High in Kent School District. In 2003, she accepted the educational assistant position and was elected as an intern principal at Mattson Junior High. Ms. Thomas also coached football and track in Kent School District.

Ms. Thomas busies herself in both the Auburn and Kent communities. She is a member of the Auburn Valley Kiwanis Club, a Civil Service Commissioner for the City Of Kent

South King County Activities Center (SKCAC Industries), a youth services chairman and director for the Kent Kiwanis Club, a member of the Kent Chamber of Commerce and a Red Cross volunteer.

Ms. Thomas earned her bachelor’s degree and teacher’s certificate from Central Washington University in 2000. She received a masters of education from City University in 2003 in addition to a P-12 principal certification.
