"Ever Wonder?"
Q. How are "All League" players selected?
A: At the end of each season, coaches select the best players, by positions
according to statistics and overall performance. Coaches traditionally
get only one vote per position and coaches cannot vote for their own players.
Q. Who are the "All-State" Players? A.
All League seniors who are nominated to the "Senior Feeder Game" (a two-game series of senior only competition between another league and/or
division) are evaluated by coaches and representatives to play in the
All-State games.
Q. How do you calculate the following?
A. On Base percentage: Divide the total of hits,
walks, and hit by pitch by the total of at bats, all bases on balls, hit
by pitch, and sacrifice flies. Ignore being awarded first base on interference
or obstruction.
Earned Run Average: Multiply the total earned runs
charged against his pitching by 9, and divide the result by the total
number of innings he pitched.
Slugging percentage: Divide the total bases of
all safe hits by the total times at bat (total times at bat is the number
of times batting, except no time at bat is charged for (1) sacrifice bunt
or sacrifice fly (2) base on balls (3) hit by pitch (4) awarded first
base on obstruction or interference)
Slug percentage: Divide the number of times thrown
out at a 2nd base by 90 feet.
Batting Average: Divide the total of number safe
hits by the total times at bat.
Fielding Percentage: Divide the total putouts and
assists by the total of putouts, assists, and errors.
On Bench percentage: Your total attitude divided
by your effort.
