KINDERGARTEN

ESSENTIAL LEARNINGS: BENCHMARKS:
Students will:
  1. locate and use Everybody section.
  2. locate and use primary magazines.
Students:
  1. select Everybody books and primary magazines.

FIRST GRADE

ESSENTIAL LEARNINGS: BENCHMARKS: INTEGRATED CURRICULUM:
Students will:
  1. be introduced to locating Everybody books by ABC order using authors' last names.
  2. locate primary magazines.
  3. be introduced to the difference between fiction and non-fiction.
  4. be introduced to call numbers.
Students:
  1. begin to locate Everybody books by authors' last names.
  2. select primary magazines.
  3. begin to differentiate between fiction and non-fiction.
  4. will locate call numbers on books.

Reinforce alphabetizing skills.


SECOND GRADE

ESSENTIAL LEARNINGS: BENCHMARKS: INTEGRATED CURRICULUM:
Students will:
  1. access Everybody books by ABC order using authors' last names.
  2. access magazines.
  3. access fiction and non-fiction.
  4. access call numbers.
Students:
  1. locate Everybody books by authors' last names.
  2. select primary magazines.
  3. differentiate between fiction and non-fiction.
  4. use call numbers to locate books.

Reinforce alphabetizing skills.


THIRD GRADE

ESSENTIAL LEARNINGS: BENCHMARKS: INTEGRATED CURRICULUM:
Students will:
  1. access fiction and non-fiction using call numbers.
  2. access appropriate magazines.
  3. identify appropriate search strategy (title, author, subject).
  4. identify and locate different sections of library.
Students:
  1. use call numbers to locate fiction and non-fiction books.
  2. select appropriate magazines.
  3. use search stations to locate books using title, author, and/or subject.
  4. identify sections of the library with assistance.

Reinforce alphabetizing skills.


FOURTH GRADE

ESSENTIAL LEARNINGS: BENCHMARKS: INTEGRATED CURRICULUM:
Students will:
  1. access fiction and non-fiction using call numbers.
  2. access appropriate magazines.
  3. identify appropriate search strategy (title, author, subject, series).
  4. identify and locate different sections of library.
Students:
  1. use call numbers to locate fiction and non-fiction books with limited assistance.
  2. select appropriate magazines.
  3. use search stations to locate books using title, author, subject, and/or series.
  4. identify sections of the library with limited assistance.

Reinforce alphabetizing skills.


FIFTH GRADE

ESSENTIAL LEARNINGS: BENCHMARKS: INTEGRATED CURRICULUM:
Students will:
  1. access fiction and non-fiction using call numbers.
  2. access appropriate magazines.
  3. identify appropriate search strategy (title, author, subject, keyword, and series).
  4. identify and locate different sections of library.
Students:
  1. independently use call numbers to locate fiction and non-fiction books.
  2. select appropriate magazines.
  3. use appropriate search skills to locate books using title, author, subject, series, and/or keyword via OPAC.
  4. independently identify sections of the library.

Reinforce alphabetizing skills.
