Citing sources from which you found information that you use in your writing is extremely important. Unfortunately, writers can sometimes get bogged down in the details of proper form and which style to use (MLA, APA, Chicago Style manual, Turbian, etc.) when compliling their bibliography. The Auburn School District uses the (MLA) Modern Language Association format for citing reference sources. The examples below are intended to assist writers in composing their bibliography. It is impossible, however, to address every detail in such a short guide. For questions that are not resolved here, the reader is referred to the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers. 4th ed (Gilaldi, 1995), other web sites, a sample bibliography, their librarian and their teacher. Numbers in paranthesis (4.10.3) refer the reader to the appropriate section of the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers. 4th ed (Gilaldi, 1995).
