School Breakfast and Lunch Information

Auburn School District School Breakfast and Lunch Programs:

Our Child Nutrition Programs serve more than 3,000 breakfasts and 6,000 lunches each day to students of the Auburn School District.  Menus are planned to meet the nutritional goals of the USDA and the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.  Each school has their own kitchen and staff who prepare meals at the site.  The cafeteria at each school is treated as a classroom of learning about food and nutrition.  Our website:  www.auburn.wednet.edu/childnutrition/default3.htm is an excellent resource to learn about our program(s) and nutrition.  We encourage you to contact us with questions and suggestions via e-mail at:  ChildNutrition@auburn.wednet.edu

Pricing:
A variety of hot, nutritious breakfasts and lunches are served daily in all our schools.  Breakfast will be available for students, beginning the first day of school.  The price in all schools will be $1.00 for breakfast and FREE for students who qualify for reduced price or free meals.  All meals (breakfast and lunch) include a choice of entree, milk, and a trip through our fresh fruit and vegetable bar.  Reduced price lunches will be 40¢ at all schools.  Milk alone is 50¢.

Lunch Pricing: Elementary Middle High
  $2.00 $2.25 $2.25

Breakfasts and lunches may be pre-purchased in any amount.  Computers are used in our schools to maintain balances for individual student accounts--we encourage you to pre-pay into the account (this ensures money for meals and faster moving lines of service).  Checks must be made out for the exact amount and are given to the kitchen--please include each student's PIN number, the student's name, and, it is helpful to have the grade and/or teacher's name on the check.  For your convenience (and a small fee), pre-payments can be made over the Internet at www.mymealtime.com.

Free and Reduced Breakfasts and Lunches:
The Auburn School District participates in the USDA National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs.  We maintain confidentiality in the classroom and in the lunchroom.  All students (Free, Reduced, or Full Price) use a PIN number to access their account.  Free or reduced price applications are available at every school office and school kitchen.  A new application must be completed each year.  Free and reduced price breakfast and lunch application forms are sent home the first day of school and are given to parents of new students upon enrollment.  Foster children may also be eligible for these benefits.  You may apply or re-apply at any time during the year.  You may download an application form from our website:  www.auburn.wednet.edu.  PLEASE list the entire family (and all students) on one family application.

Auburn High School, Auburn Riverside High School, and Auburn Mountainview High School also participate in the USDA School Breakfast and Lunch Programs.  Free and reduced-price meals are available to eligible families.  Applications are available at the school and in the cafeteria.  Each high school has a professional chef who is also a certified teacher.  As instructors, these chefs teach culinary arts to students who are interested in preparing for a career in the food service industry or that are interested in learning more about food and nutrition.  Further nutritional information may be accessed by clicking -here-.
