Financial Aid Information Meeting for Seniors
Tuesday, January 7 at Auburn High School
Auburn High School is inviting seniors who are planning to attend a vocational-technical college, a two-year community college, or a four-year college or university, to attend a Financial Aid Night workshop on Tuesday, January 7 at 7:00 p.m. in the Auburn High School library. The high school counseling staff is encouraging seniors and their parents to apply for financial aid. Financial aid is not solely based upon high academic abilities. Mary Edington, director of Financial Aid at Green River Community College, will conduct the workshop to help parents and seniors complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form and discuss the three types of financial aid: grants or scholarships, loans, and student employment. (Often schools will “package” financial aid offers to students, granting monies for college from each of the three types of aid. Student loans are usually low interest with no payment due until after the student graduates from college.) For more information, contact Ed Bean, AHS counselor, at (253) 931-4929.
