TIC-TAC-TOE ADDITION


Materials:
  • paper and pencils
Number of Players:

Two (2) or more

Directions:

Draw a tic-tac-toe grid on a piece of paper like the first one shown below.

Explain that the number in the box is a sum.  Ask children to find 3 number combinations that equal the sum and to draw a line through those three numbers.  Lines may go across, up and down, or diagonally.  They must be straight lines.  There is more than one combination for each sum.

Discuss strategies.

For more practice, change the numbers in the grid as shown below in the other two diagrams, or make up your own grids.
