NEWS RELEASE
Auburn School Board of Directors Recognized
Lea Hill Elementary Fourth Grade Student

On Monday, February 24, the Auburn School District Board of Directors will recognize Lea Hill Elementary School fourth grade student, Marissa Wood, for being an excellent student.  Marissa works very hard on her assignments and her good grades reflect that.  Marissa is very patient and helpful to other students in the class.  She has been sitting by a Russian student most of the year and helps her in many ways.  Marissa has also gone out of her way to be kind to a special needs student in the class.  She brought gloves for him and put his name on them.  “Marissa does not seem to want attention for the kind things she does, she genuinely enjoys helping people.  What a great kid!" says her classroom teacher, Jill Journey.  Marissa has attended Covington Baptist Church since she was a toddler.  She has been active in the children's choir, children's missions, and the angel tree program.  Marissa is a member of

AWANA, a non-denominational Christian club, attending weekly meetings.  She has also participated in the AWANA games and AWANA bible quizzing.  In 2002, Marissa was diagnosed with Pseudotumor Cerebri, an abnormal buildup of cerebral spinal fluid.  Throughout several months of doctor appointments and uncomfortable treatments, Marissa continues to have a positive attitude and a smile on her face.

For more information, contact Lea Hill Elementary School principal, Donna Dussault-Walker, at (253) 931-4982.
