District's Post Secondary Night Offers Students and Parents
Options for Life After High School
Auburn School District will be hosting its eighth annual Post-Secondary Night on Wednesday, February 12, at 7 – 9 p.m. at Auburn High School Performing Arts Center. The evening’s program will allow students and parents to explore various options such as college, military, and job training that are available to students after high school graduation. Parents and students from all district middle schools and high schools are being encouraged to attend this event. The evening will begin with a short presentation in the Auburn High School Performing Arts Center (PAC) at 7 p.m. Students and parents are then invited to attend break-out sessions to learn more about: four-year public colleges; four-year private colleges; community colleges; technical colleges; college athletics and NCAA eligibility; transition resources for special needs students; college credit in high school; apprenticeships and Tech Prep; and financial aid. In addition, there will be career, military academies, and ROTC representatives, and many other post-secondary opportunities such as Job Corps, City Year, and some volunteer opportunities. There will also be an Information Fair in the school’s cafeteria where individual college admission and financial aid representatives will be available for parents and students’ questions. There will be over 50 colleges in attendance from around the Pacific Northwest. Post Secondary Night will provide valuable information for students as they begin to make plans for “life after high school.”
