School Board of Directors to Recognize
Washington Elementary Fifth Grade Student Laritza Garcia
| On Monday, February 23, the Auburn School Board of Directors will recognize Laritza Garcia, a Washington Elementary School fifth grader, for being an excellent student. Laritza’s classroom teacher, Dena Walker, says, “Laritza is a hard working student who always does her best on every assignment or task. She is a wonderful reader, reading above her grade level. She is also a responsible student who turns in her completed work on time and follows the school rules at all times. Other students say they admire Laritza. She is a caring person who gives up her recess to help the kindergarten classes. She always treats others with respect and kindness.” Laritza participated in the Global Reading Challenge, a King County Library System competition in which students answer questions about books they have read. She also works to complete Word of the Month projects based on words like respect, responsibility, perseverance, common sense, and service. Laritza is also bilingual, speaking both Spanish and English. She enjoys reading her spare time. |
