Auburn Mountainview High School
Head Coach Selected
On Monday, February 14, the Auburn School District Board of Directors approved the selection of Mike Clancy, an Auburn High School mathematics teacher, as the head football coach for Auburn Mountainview High School (AMHS).
Mr. Clancy graduated from Mercer Island High School where he played defensive end and offensive guard in football. He attended the University of San Diego where he played defensive end and earned a degree in mathematics and a secondary teaching certificate. He taught mathematics and coached football at Shelton High School from 1997-1999 and Kent-Meridian High School from 1999-2002 where he was the head coach. In 2002, he came to Auburn High School, immediately joining the football coaching staff as the offensive line coach.
Mr. Clancy applied for the head football coaching job at AMHS because of the opportunity to build a program from scratch based on my philosophies, to work for a very supportive administration, and, most importantly, to continue to work with the outstanding young student-athletes here in Auburn. Some of the goals Mr. Clancy has for the AMHS football program include developing a foundation built upon honesty, trust, commitment and a great work ethic. He is looking forward to establishing traditions and creating a spirited, supportive school environment. I also wish to provide the best team sports experience an athlete will ever have, says Mr. Clancy. I coach to help student-athletes mature as people and to help them excel in school and in sports, and, finally, to help them develop positive, life-long memories.
Bob Odman, planning principal for AMHS observes about the new head football coach, "Mike Clancy brings a positive attitude to this job. He is a positive individual who is a kid magnet. Players and their families respect him."
