Ryan Montgomery One of Ten to be Inducted
into AAA Hall of Fame
Ryan Montgomery, a fifth grade student from Pioneer Elementary School who is a safety patrol lieutenant, has been selected as one of ten student patrollers to be inducted into the Automobile Association of America (AAA) Hall of Fame at a special awards banquet before the Seattle Mariners vs. Cleveland Indians game at Safeco Field on Friday, April 22. In addition, he will receive on-field recognition at the game.
Last month, Michelle Hupperten, Pioneer Elementary School teacher on special assignment, received information from AAA of Washington about a special opportunity for elementary school safety patrol supervisors to nominate an outstanding patrol member for induction into the AAA School Patrol Hall of Fame. Ryan's responsible behavior and dedication to his job as lieutenant led her to nominate him for this honor. Ms. Hupperten says, “Ryan is also his school’s ASB Treasurer and serves as a Peer Mediator for the second grade recess. He plays the bells and drums in the middle school band and played the part of a reporter in the fifth grade musical. His grades are excellent and he is a good role model for his peers academically and behaviorally. He is a Boy Scout and participates in community service through this organization.”
The high quality of Ryan’s essay answers and the rating of Ms. Hupperten’s nomination gave him the top score of all inductees. Therefore, AAA Washington has chosen to nominate him for the National AAA Safety Patroller of the Year Award. As a nominee, he will receive round trip airfare and accommodations for himself and one family member to New York to be part of the awards ceremony that will take place April 29-May 2.
The evening of Wednesday, February 16 was be the AAA School Safety Patrol Night at the Mariners and patrol advisors could purchase discounted tickets to this game.
