Auburn School District's Automotive Technology Program
Earns Master ASE Certification
Auburn School District’s Automotive Technology Program has been recertified as a Master Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) training program through the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF).
Master ASE Certification is the ultimate recognition in the auto service industry. Earning this certification means the Auburn School District program meets strict auto industry standards in eight different service areas. Auburn School District is also the only district in the northwestern United States to achieve Master ASE Certification. All other certified districts in Washington State are certified in only four to six of the possible eight areas.
“Achieving this high level of certification means we are able to offer our students a tremendous opportunity for learning, especially to those students who are seeking the auto service trade as a possible career,” says Mr. Donaldson, Auburn School District’s automotive technology instructor.
Students are preparing for the ASE exam by learning about electrical systems, steering and suspension, brakes, and engine performance to name a few. To earn the ASE certified patch, students must also complete two years of work experience. By completing the program in the Auburn School District, they earn one year of work experience. “Students who are ASE certified are highly desirable to employers,” says Mr. Donaldson. “It reflects a higher level of competency.”
