First Annual Auburn School District Early Learning Fair
Scheduled for Thursday, March 22, 2007

On Thursday, March 22, the public is invited to attend the First Annual Auburn School District Early Learning Fair at the James P. Fugate Administration Building, 915 4th Street NE, Auburn, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Sponsored by Deputy Superintendent Dr. Kip Herren and the Early Learning Committee of Auburn School District, the evening will feature guest speaker Jone Bosworth, director of Washington State’s Department of Early Learning (DEL). Ms. Bosworth will share exciting developments in early childhood education and care in Washington. DEL places a high value on families and the relationship between parent and child. To ensure children are safe, DEL partners with parents, early child care providers and other early childhood specialists to help protect and nurture children.

In addition to the guest speaker, a resource information fair, consisting of educational, childcare and community agencies, will be set up to provide pertinent information on a variety of early learning topics including:

Ö        Choosing quality child care/preschool programs

Ö        Early literacy and kindergarten readiness

Ö        Parent education

Ö        Co-op preschool programs

Ö        Childfind and Early Childhood Special Education

Ö        Head Start, ECEAP and ACAP programs

Ö        Kindergarten roundup and registration information

Ö        Public health programs

Ö        How to identify and structure learning opportunities for gifted preschoolers

Ö        Early entrance to kindergarten
