Rules and Discipline

Choir Rules

  • Respect the choir director and fellow choir members
  • Respect the choir room, equipment and music.
  • Choir is a safe place to sing—absolutely no teasing or putting down others
  • Listen—Don’t talk, especially while other sections are being rehearsed
  • All students with sing with passion and power.
  • Always sing with correct posture whether sitting or standing.
  • Be open minded about all styles of music.  “A good song is a good song.”
  • Keep your choir folder neat with a pencil to mark your music.  No ink please.
  • Be positive.  You will have a happier choir experience.  A happy choir sings better!

Discipline

All students are expected to follow the rules of school and choir class.  For 99% of the time, inappropriate behavior is corrected with a gentle reminder.  For those with persistent problems, they will be given a warning, then they will be given “Think Time” (sent to another classroom) with a drop in their daily effort grade, with possible lunch detention.  If processed twice, they will then be referred to the Principal or Assistant Principal.  Students who have behavior issues may also be denied the privilege of going on Choir field trips.
