Art class

Cascade Middle School

Dear Student/Parents:

Your student has elected to participate in Art class this semester. In order to become well-rounded artists we follow a four point approach to art instruction. This includes Sketch files, projects, art history and tests.

Students work individually, and as part of a team, on various assignments and/or projects. Daily attendance is important because future lessons build on prior learning’s. If a student misses a class or classes for any reason it is up to the student to be responsible to ask about any papers or work they have missed.

Grades will be based on total points earned. The more points a student earns, the higher their grade. Students will earn points on, daily participation, group and individual projects and tests. Attitude and improvement are much more important than skill. All students can earn whatever grade they want, regardless of technical talent.

We will use a variety of mediums throughout the quarter including pencils, oil pastels, acrylic paint, tempera paint, watercolour paint, and other materials.

All school rules found in the student handbook will be enforced in addition to the detailed classroom expectations for art class. I believe that if students follow these four rules they will be successful:

            1. Come to class on time, prepared to work, and participate in class activities.

2. Do nothing that will harm yourself or others.

3. Do nothing that will make it difficult for someone, including yourself, to learn.

4. Respect others and equipment and supplies.

I enjoy teaching art; I hope your student will have a positive experience in class. Please contact me if I can be of assistance.
