Guitar class
Dear Student/Parents:
Your student has elected to participate in
Guitar class
this semester. In order to
become well-rounded guitarists we use a three-pronged approach to guitar instruction.
This includes instruction in tab, note-reading, and chords. We will be using
the book 21st Century/Belwin Mills "Guitar Method
1", in addition to
other teacher supplied resources.
Your student is welcome to supply their
own guitar. We will be using steel-string or nylon-string six-string acoustic
guitars. No electric guitars, basses or amps without prior instructor
permission please.
I have found the following stores to be
wonderful resources for the beginning musician.

Students work individually, and as part of a team, on various songs and skills. The class is practice oriented; therefore it is important for students to practice at home in addition to attending and participation in class. If a student misses a class or classes for any reason it is up to the student to be responsible to ask about any papers or work they have missed.
Grades will be based on total points earned. The more points a student earns, the higher their grade. Students will earn points on, daily participation, group and individual playing tests, and evidence of outside practice.
All school rules found in the student handbook will be enforced in addition to the detailed classroom expectations for guitar class. I believe that if students follow these four rules they will be successful:
1. Come to class on time, prepared to work, and participate in the class activities.
2. Do nothing that will harm yourself or others
3. Do nothing that will make it difficult for someone, including yourself, to learn
4. Respect others and instruments.
I enjoy teaching
guitar; I hope your student will have a positive experience in class. Please
contact me if I can be of assistance.
