ESSAYS/SHORT STORIES

  The Unexpected Guest

Hello! I am the narrator. If you don’t know who that is, I will be the one who will be talking to you about a small story about a girl, named Sam. Sam was a 13 year old girl. She had brown hair and green eyes. She was about 5”2 and she lived with her mother in Spokane, Washington. Now you have to know something. Sam LOVES aliens and well, space. She has loved it since she was about 5 years old. It started when she lived with her dad in Montana. Her dad had just given her, her first stuffed animal. Well, it was really a stuffed alien but to Sam it was the world. Anyway, weeks went by and bed was changed. Month went by and all her furniture was transformed. One year and the walls here colored. At the age of 6, her room was complete! Green and purple walls and furniture, 113 stuffed aliens, 3 pictures of her dad, and all her furniture was round.

Now for the story.

“What’s this?” Brett, a bully at Sam’s school said as he picked up a green and orange note book that was not in the best condition. “Aliens, planets! Dude! Look at this.” One of Brett’s buddies walked over to him and took the note book. They looked at each other and busted out with laughter. “Ok!” Brett said trying to hold it in without wetting himself. “I won’t beat you up” Sam felt a sigh of relief until he continued, “but I will show everyone in school!” He ripped a page out, threw the book down and ran off still laughing.

Sam was on the verge of crying while she picked up her book examined the ripped page and tried her best to straiten the ones that were still remaining. Sam stood up, wiped her eyes, and started on her way home. When she did get home, she fiddled for the spare key in the mouth of a frog statue. Her fingers pulled it up and she opened the door.

“Hi Sam!” her little brothers, Caden and Toby, said as Sam past by the living room on the way to the kitchen.

“Leave me alone, Squirts!” Sam walked into the kitchen, open the fridge, grabbed the last of the cheese cake and a fork, ran upstairs to her bedroom, slammed the door, and plopped down on her chair that was next to her desk and started eating. She was facing the 3 pictures of her dad and started eating faster. When the cheese cake was gone, she set it on her table and stood there running over the day. Sam was so angry about what had happened at school she ran, jumped on the bed and landed head first on her green pillow. After a while Sam started to doze off and then…

                           BLACK OUT

Sam woke up still a little dizzy and managed to stand up. She got up just in time to notice that she had a red and blue space suit on. Plus the fact that she was standing in a space ship made her feel a little strange. What just happened? Where am I? BEEP BEEP BEEP!!! What is that? Hey look! A little dot! The “dot” got bigger. Wait! That’s not a dot! It’s a planet, full of garbage?

The spaceship landed and Sam took her left foot and touched the dirty planet. She then spotted a little green and purple alien that was about 3 inches tall. He was opening boxes, bags, cans, and bottles and just leaving them around everywhere he went. : “You know you can recycle those.” Sam said to the alien and it looked at her like so was crazy. “And you can reuse these.” Sam said as she picked up a cardboard box.

The little thing looked at her with wide eyes almost as big as its 1 inch head.

“Like this.” She said and put it in a bag. The little alien turned around picked up a bottle and showed it to Sam as if to show it off. “Yep!” she said and the little, now cute, alien walked up and gently put the bottle in the bag. “You’re getting good!”

For a few days Sam helped her new buddy clean up his home. With all the left over boxes and cans Sam helped build a palace for her new best buddy. Cans were used for poles and stairs. Each box was a room. All together it turned out pretty well if I do say so. Well anyway, it was on the third day when there was one little can left. Both Sam and the alien reached for it. He touched her hand and she touched his three tentacles. Then together they put it in the very full bag. It was done.

“Well I guess this is goodbye.” Sam said and held her stance then they charged for each other and hugged. Well he just hugged her finger for he was so small. “Oh! Before I go, I should give you a name. Hmm?” Sam was not quite sure. There was just to many! Even my head is starting to hurt. “How about Stephan? Yeah! Now I promise I will come back. Keep your world clean!”

Sam then went black.

“No, no, no!” Sam yelled and struggled in her bed with her eyes still shut.

“Honey” Sam woke up to see her mom staring at her. “You were having a nightmare.” Sam stood up.

“But, what, huh?”

“Just slow down and come down for dinner and we will talk about it. Ok? There is also someone here to see you.” Sam’s mom said in a mysterious voice. Sam ran down the stairs about half way down and stopped to see who, but her dad standing in the door way.

“Hay kiddo!”

Sam ran down and hugged her dad almost knocking her dad over.

“Woh! What was that for?”

“I missed you.”
