Extra Credit

The extra credit in my class is based on our roots and prefixes curriculum. Essentially I want students to unlock the meaning of the word by pulling it apart. The students have each received a reference sheet of common roots, prefixes and some suffixes from which many English Language words are derived. From these lists the students will look for words that they recognize from the reference sheet. These words can be found anywhere in their everyday lives. I've suggested to the students to look in newspapers, magazines or books. Students can bring in one word per day and for every word the students bring in they can earn two points.
