8TH GRADE PRE-ALGEBRA AND ALGEBRA
Classroom
Procedures, Materials, and Expectations
We will be covering a wide array of concepts in
pre-algebra or algebra. By the end of
the year, you will be ready for high school math! I am here to help you in any way that I
can. Lets have a great year!!!
Materials required in
class (every day):
Binder
You
will keep a separate binder for this class.
It should hold your warm-ups, notes, homework, class work, tests, and
any other handouts from class. You will
receive a grade at the end of each quarter for your complete and organized
binder.
Hall Passes
You
will receive 4 hall passes each quarter.
You are responsible for keeping them in your binder and using them when
you feel it is necessary. Additional passes will be given on an as needed
basis.
Late Work
You
will receive 4 late passes for each quarter.
You may use these passes to earn full credit for any homework assignment
within the quarter as long as it is neat and complete. Late or partial homework will not be accepted
without a pass.
Absences
If
you are absent, you will need to check the assignment binder to find out what
you have missed. Any handouts will be located in the folders by the door. You
will have the same number of days that you were gone to make up the missed
work. Please write absent on the top
of your paper before turning it in.
Progress Reports
You
will receive a progress report every two weeks that will need to signed and
returned within the week. These are
worth 5 homework points.

Homework
Homework
will be assigned 2-3 times a week. You
will need to use your notes and examples from class to refer to when completing
homework at home. You will receive full credit
for finished homework if you show all of
your work.
Tests/Quizzes
You
will have a test at the end of each chapter in the text. There will also be mid-term tests and weekly quizzes. This is how I will know if we are ready to
move on or need to spend a couple more days on a particular concept. Tests are graded on a curve. I use the top score from each class to
determine how many points each test is out of.
