President's Message

The school year is flying by.  We’re already at the end of March.

We would like to thank the volunteers who are working at our concession stand during wrestling matches and basketball games.  We invite everyone to see what we have to offer and stop by the student store while supporting our Spartan teams.  Our concession coordinator, Diane Starr, keeps the stand stocked with bottled water, sodas, beef jerky, popcorn, candy and other snacks.  All funds raised benefit the students and staff at Cascade.

The Auburn Council of PTAs is celebrating its annual Auburn Awards on Tuesday, March 27th at the Junior Achievement Building in south Auburn.  Look inside this issue to see who Cascade PTSA in honoring this year.  Both women are hard workers and help out anyway they can.  We hope you’ll congratulate them when you run into them during the rest of the school year.

Our PTSA is looking for board members for next year.  We are having a meeting on March 28th at 6:30 PM in the staff lounge to elect our officers.  The meeting was originally posted online for proper notice.  We have members interested in the President, Treasurer, and Secretary positions but are still looking for a Vice President.  The current Vice President is also our membership chair.  We’d like the incoming VP to continue in that role.

Thank you for reading our newsletter and helping us support Cascade students!

Susan Norg and Niki Nelson
Co-Presidents

Golden Acorn Award

The Cascade PTSA Awards Committee is proud to announce the recipients of the Outstanding Educator and Golden Acorn Awards for 2006-2007.

With great appreciation we honor Janet Large with our Outstanding Educator Award. Janet works with the most impacted students in Cascade’s Structured Learning Center.  She is constantly bringing new ideas to her program to ensure her students are able to reach their goals. Additionally, she has worked to get adaptive equipment to aid her students. The staff showed much appreciation for Janet’s knowledge and her unselfish desire to share it with her peers. It was said that Janet works with the most challenged students and does it with an amazing smile and the attitude to go along with.

Golden Acorn honors go to Kelly Daniels! Kelly works each month to produce a highly informative and quality PTSA newsletter for Cascade. She also generously gives her time to our students as the volunteer coordinator for our ABS Student store, lending guidance and mentoring to their enterprises. In addition, Kelly gives her time to the IAHSP, serving as their secretary and is involved with Communities in Schools where she devotes much needed energy and time to promoting bond and levy support for the Auburn School District.

The Awards Committee would like to congratulate both of this years recipients on their achievements and extend our thanks for the efforts of these two exceptional ladies.

Box Tops

Keep ‘em Coming!

We turned in our first shipment of box tops in January!  Please keep them coming.  They can be left in the office and will be put in the PTSA mailbox.  We’re keeping a list of students who’ve turned them in and will give out some prizes before the school year is over.

We also accept Campbell’s labels.  Please remember to send in the UPC code, NOT the front of the label.  The program was changed for the 2006-2007 school year.  We’ll also take the complete label and doing the cutting for you!
