Mission Statement

At Chinook Elementary, our mission is to have students, parents, and staff cooperate to provide a positive learning environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and are responsible for personal and academic growth.

Location and Students

Chinook Elementary is located southeast of the city of Auburn with students attending from the Enumclaw plateau, Muckleshoot Reservation, Forest Villa, and the Auburn View Heights area of Forest Ridge. Chinook has a wide range of socio-economic levels with its attendance area comprised of apartments, duplexes, and single-family dwellings. Approximately 79% of those students who started the 1998-99 school year at Chinook finished there also, reflecting a stable student population.

Chinook Elementary has the opportunity to offer a Native American Achievement Center to Native American students and as part of the multicultural curriculum, all fourth grade students have the opportunity to study Indian history. The curriculum and program have been used as a program model for other school districts.
