Kindergarten  

Students will listen to Farmer Brown Shears His Sheep by Teri Sloat, illustrated by Nadine Bernard Westcott. This book is a Washington Children's Choice Picture Book Award Nominee.

Students will stamp the M and N using KidPix. They will then stamp things that have the same beginning sound as each letter. For example: under the letter F they might stamp a flag.

 
         
First, Second, and Third  

Students will listen to Farmer Brown Shears His Sheep by Teri Sloat, illustrated by Nadine Bernard Westcott. This book is a Washington Children's Choice Picture Book Award Nominee.

Students will use the KidPix program to illustrate and write about a sweater that the sheep in the story might like to wear.

   
   

 

   
Fourth  

Students will listent to Love That Dog by Sharon Creech. This book is the story of Jack, a student who doesn't want to write poetry when he is requred to by his teacher. As he writes notes to his teacher as part of the assignment, he learns a lot about poetry, and about himself.

Students will watch a PowerPoint presentation created by Mr. Spencer to introduce a unit on poetry that they will be completing.
