Dear Parents,
Welcome to your student's third grade year at Chinook! I am Pete Sprenger, your student's teacher. This will by my tenthyear at Chinook. I hope you all had a great summer. I enjoyed spending it with my daughter. She is now a year and a half old.
I am looking forward to an exciting year with you and your student. Third grade is an important year; we will be learning skills that will be vital for success in fourth grade and beyond. Third grade is considered an intermediate grade at Chinook, which means there will be a transition toward more work and more responsibility for your student. For a successful school year, it is important for parents and teachers to work together. Please feel free to communicate with me often through notes, emails or telephone calls. It is necessary that I know your questions and concerns.
Please see the links that contain my classroom rules, discipline plan, homework policy, and explanation of how I grade. Developing strong social skills and problem solving skills are crucial for children, especially when it comes to making good decisions for themselves.
It is my goal to create a positive and nurturing classroom environment to ensure that your child feels safe and cared for. This atmosphere is vital for learning to take place. We will engage in a variety of learning styles including hands on activities, working with partners, and cooperative groups. These activities increase student participation by getting them actively involved in their learning.
I am very excited for the 2004-2005 school year and I encourage you to call me at 253-931-4980 or email me at psprenger@mx.auburn.wednet.edu.
Sincerely,
Pete Sprenger
