WELCOME TO OUR ROOM

Room 303 is the home of Ms. Stark's Class.  For the 2006-2007 school year, there are 10 students in the Kindergarten (KG) through Second Grades and 3 teachers.  We are an active class that loves to learn and experience new things.  While each child's academic program is driven by his or her Individualized Education Plan (IEP), our day is structured much like any primary grade class.

WHAT ARE STRUCTURED LEARNING CENTERS?

Structured Learning Center (SLC) classrooms are just one of the options on the continuum of placements in Special Education within the Auburn Schools.  SLC classes are provided for special education students in grades K-5 who need more intensive services than the general education classroom with resource support can provide.

There are 5 primary SLC classrooms in the district. They are at Washington Elementary, Hazelwood Elementary, Chinook Elementary, Lakeland Hills, and Lake View Elementary.  Class sizes vary at each sight from year to year, but most often range from 6-15 students in KG, 1st, 2nd, and/or 3rd grades.  Each SLC classroom is staffed with a certificated teacher and a minimum of 9 hours of Para educator time.
Our goal is to provide your child a safe, structured and fun environment in which he or she can be a successful learner.

Each year, the educational program for the class is driven by the academic and social needs stated in the each child's IEP. Along with one on one instructional time, your child's goals and objectives could be met in a number of ways, including small group instruction, whole group instruction, and/or integrated time within the general education classroom.

Daily classroom schedules and routines are different in each building.  However, core academics are addressed each day, and music, physical education and library times are scheduled for each class.
