AR Quiz List

Our librarian Mrs. Clark and assistant Mrs. Zimmerman welcome you to the library.  It is the mission of the Elementary Library Media Program in the Auburn School District to foster an appreciation of literature and to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information.

ABOUT THE LIBRARY:

The library at Dick Scobee houses thousands of books and resource materials, and is home to our school's wonderful computer lab. Classes make scheduled visits to the library once a week. Events such as Scobee Award Winner Lunches, P.T.A. Meetings, After School Larsons Math, Health Screening, Volunteer Tea, Class Pictures, and School Book Fairs take place in the library.

Students' Library Visits:

Students in all grades attend library classes weekly.  During their library time, students learn about library science, books, and technology.  Primary library classes typically begin with book check out, a brief story time, then students complete an activity in the computer lab.  Intermediate classes also begin with book check out, they practice keyboarding skills during this time. Following check out students work on library science skills in the computer lab. Check-out time is provided during every visit and during recess time.

Check-out Procedures:

Students check out books during their library class time and may "keep" checked-out materials for a period of one week. ECE and Kindergartners check out one book per week; 1st and 2nd graders check out one-two books per week; 3rd-5th graders check out two books per week. Button students may check out an additional book.

Library books are always due on one's library day.  Students must have their checked-out materials returned  in order to be "cleared" to check-out on library day.

Overdue Books :

There is no fine for overdue books, however, students need to return any overdue materials prior to being allowed to check-out again. Notices will be sent home for any long overdue items (one or more months) and students will miss recess until the books are returned or paid for.

Book Fines:

Book fines are issued in cases where one's library book is lost or damaged. The amount charged will be the replacement cost for that particular book.
