PTA provided popcorn
and juice boxes for Math Night (Thursday, Jan. 24th; 6:00-7:30) This
was a huge success with a great many families attending. Thanks Anna and Amy for
holding down the Fort
and providing Popcorn, healthy snacks and drinks.
The PTA
approved the purchase of a new popcorn
machine. We have been renting a popcorn machine
since ours went on the fritz. The new machine price is $289.99. It will pop
more popcorn than our current one at a faster rate (3 gallons in 5-10 min). The
popcorn YTD income is $358.89. Expense for renting popper $130.24. The profit
will be used to purchase the popcorn machine, plus money taken from "unbudgeted"
line item.
January 25th Friday,
Next popcorn day: Teachers please send a
total
count of popcorns ordered with your envelope in the morning.
Please attach to the outside or slip one inside so PTA moms don't need to count
the money to know the number of popcorn bags to pop. This will help the process
go faster. Also, if you send your "lunch in the gym" box to the gym with some
students, it will be easy delivery to your room or easy pick-up when taking your
kids to lunch. (NO lunch in the gym on Fridays anymore)
Santa Shoppe ended up

Geared for those who want to learn more
about the inner workings of a local PTA ours! (EHE) There are some worthwhile
classes to attend so we need 6-10 people to come with us to collect brain food
to enhance the EHE PTA. Please help us help the school by contacting us to hold
your spot. It is free training and free food and will provide helpful tools to
be able to run a super PTA now and next year.
February 13th, 4:00 PTA
Meeting. Parents may find this time better. All parents are
welcome to come to this PTA meeting. It will be held in the Library, kids can
hang out in the gym. There will be 2-3 high school kids to supervise. We will be
discussing many things including findings from the Leadership conference.
February
15th Friday, Science on Wheels will be here
to present "Blood and Guts." There
will be an all school assembly, a hands-on area in the library, and possibly
some classroom visitations. Previous PTA did something like this last year but
it had to do with Math or Physics
The kids loved
it!
.
March 10th-13th is
Classified Staff Week. We will be discussing this at the
Feb. meeting. Michelle McEntyre is on the Agenda for this.
Golden
Acorn/Outstanding Educator/PTA and the Principal is
Thursday, March 27th.
Typically, the committee is comprised
of the previous year's recipients as well as a few PTA volunteers. The
committee is in charge of sending out nomination forms, meeting to decide who
the recipients will be. Writing speeches for each person selected, getting the
pins ordered, and purchasing the "congratulations" gifts. PTA board is in
charge of writing/delivering the speech about the principal. Kay Gomez and Jann
Spray were the recipients at last year's ceremony. Would either of you be
available to serve on the committee? Any staff members that would like to be a
part of this committee, please let me know. Michele McEntyre is on Agenda for
this.
Friday, April
18th. EHE Ho Down Family Dance
MCd by Gaylan.
This is WASL week, but there is no testing on Friday. Plus, the thought is that
dance lessons during this week would be a nice break from WASL testing. John
Ansotique will be doing the dance lessons with the help of a video of Gaylan
teaching. Roxanne is going to go "tape" Gaylan teaching and it will be up on
the "big screen" during John's classes. Primary teachers that do not have John
need to check with him about perhaps going with another primary class for dance
lessons. It was suggested that perhaps the dance lessons might start the week
before Spring Break. Please attend this months PTA Meeting to
help plan this event . No Kid Left Behind All kids are
welcome and encouraged to participate in the Dance Lessons,
K-5th!
A request was made
to help provide funds for the 4th grade
field trip to
One area we are
looking at is the money saved by NOT having Gaylen do the dance lessons. It's
quite a chunk, so once we know how much money is needed for 4th and 5th, this
will help decide how any available funds will be appropriated. The PTA is very
supportive of financially helping the kids/families that need
assistance.
There will be
a Spelling Bee this
year. The PTA is sponsoring this event. It will be discussed at the next
meeting. It is scheduled for Friday, May 30th at
2:10. Arnie, Staci, Michelle and others
have volunteered to help. Michelle McEntyre is on the Agenda for this.
If your box-top/soup
labels are overflowing, send them with your child to school.
A date needs to be
scheduled to have elections for the nominating committee to elect your PTA Board
for next year. This is usually done at a general meeting. This is on the Agenda.
Is there a volunteer who would like to speak to this?
Thanks
Thanks Michelle
McIntyre for your continued support of the PTA!
