Special Events
First grade is a year full many “firsts” and tremendous growth. We learn how to maneuver through the lunch line and play with friends at recess. We learn how to use lockers and organize our desks. We become readers and write multiple sentences on topic. We start telling time and counting money. We have many other highlights during the year as well. Each October first graders study farms and learn barn dances in PE. The unit culminates with all our first grade classes joining together for a Barn Dance. In the spring we visit the Pt. Defiance Zoo and Aquarium to learn more about animal habitats. We wrap up the year with a Field Day that we share with second grade.
