Once again it is time to remind parents of some important policies that we hope
everyone will support. As principal I always like to remind parents of these
policies just prior to spring. Please note the following:
Visitors:
Each spring I receive numerous requests from students and parents who want
relatives and friends to come with their student to Mt. Baker Middle School.
Whenever I receive requests such as this I immediately say no. I do this
because the staff has enough responsibilities monitoring their own students
without having to take responsibilities for students who are not enrolled at Mt.
Baker Middle School. We hope parents will understand and support this request.
Mt. Baker Dress Code:
During the spring we have far more dress code violations than at any other time
of the year. The Mt. Baker Middle School staff believes the way students dress
has an impact on the classroom atmosphere and student attitudes about school.
Below is a partial list of our dress code standards. We ask that every parent
review these standards with their student.
 |
Pants, shirts or blouses
exposing undergarments or midriffs are not acceptable (i.e., short shirts,
short tops or necklines on girls that are extremely low). |
 |
Pants that are so low
that a student’s underwear is exposed or the student is forced to “waddle”
when walking are not acceptable. |
 |
Shorts and skirts must be
fingertip in length. |
 |
Slippers and pajamas are not allowed except on
special dress down days. |
 |
Accessories (i.e., chains, studded bracelets
or jewelry, sunglasses, hats) are not permitted at school. |
