Text Box: Reading Rewards Text Box: Auburn School District recently adopted a new reading program —- Trophies.  This multi-leveled program is geared to teach the necessary standards for Washington state as well as encourage interest in quality literature.  Many of the stories your child will read this year are portions of larger work such as our first story “The Best School Year Ever” taken from the book of the same title.  More information on this program can be found at www.harcourtschool.com.   Although your student may have a different reading teacher, we are all using the same standard to grade our classes, which are the Washington state Essential Learning Goals.  You will notice this when you look at your child’s progress through our family access online.  The progress report will mark your student as passing — WORKING TOWARD the standards — or no credit — not working toward the standard.

Text Box:       Midterm progress reports will be sent home in two week.  These reports are sent to make you aware of your student’s current progress and effort.  Please review the progress report with your student and discuss ways to improve the grades.  ·          If your student is not turning in homework and class work, it has a great effect on his/her grade. ·          All missed science labs will need to be made up at the teacher’s convenience. ·          Students also need to read 30 minutes each night, Monday through Thursday. ·          It is the responsibility of the student to get, complete, and turn in all absent work.  Due to the number of absences everyday, teachers cannot be responsible for each student.  We both have folders where we collect the work.  However, the students need to ask for it. ·          There is limited tutoring through our ELL department as well as students may make arrangements with their teacher for additional help.   REMEMBER, students have another four weeks to change or improve their grades.
