Welcome to 4th
Grade STEP!!
Dear 4th
Grade Family,
Welcome to the 2006-2007 school year. My name is Stephanie Andersen, and I am
excited to be your child’s teacher this year.
This is my eleventh year at Terminal Park Elementary. I have taught Kindergarten, Third and Fourth
grades. I am very excited to be teaching
the 4th grade STEP (Student Teacher Enrichment Program) class this
year. We will be working on many
projects and interesting topics across the curriculum.
I believe that one of the most important
keys to your child’s success is working together as a team. I will be keeping in close contact with you
through classroom newsletters, Friday Yeah you completed all of your work this
week notes or a missing assignment sheet to be completed over the weekend, weekly
progress reports starting the first week in October, phone calls and notes
home.
Please feel free to contact me at any
time. The best times to reach me by
phone are between
Important
Information
Homework: On a
nightly basis, student homework will be to complete any work that was not
completed in class during the school day.
Students will occasionally have a specific homework assignment related
to something we have been learning in class.
As we progress through the year, students will have some longer projects
(book reports, research reports, science/social studies projects) that will
need to be worked on at home. Students
will complete a daily assignment calendar that stays in their binder. They are also expected to fill out a daily
homework sheet that they need to bring back signed each day.
Daily Schedule:
School Supplies:
Students need the following materials:
3 Ring Binder
10
Dividers
Pencil
Pouch
Crayons
Ruler
(Inches/cm)
Glue
Stick
Scissors
Notebook Paper
Red
Pen
Water Bottles: Your
child is encouraged to have a water bottle at school that is labeled with his
or her name. The water bottle should go
home everyday so that it is kept clean.
Please do not send in anything but water.
Bicycles: 4th
grade students that wish to ride their bicycles to school must have a signed
parent letter giving them permission to ride their bikes to school. Students must also have a helmet and a
bicycle lock.
Parent Volunteers: If
you are interested in helping during class time on a regular basis, providing
treats for parties, or chaperoning field trips, I’d love your help. Please be sure you have a currently valid
“Washington State Patrol Form” on file.
If you need to pick up a form, you can send in a note with your child
and I will get you one or you can get one in the school office. Please fill out the parent volunteer form on
the page of this packet if you are interested.
I have enclosed a copy of my classroom
discipline plan. Please read through it
carefully. I follow the school
discipline program of Love and Logic, which tries to guide children to making
appropriate choices. Students will be
discussing, modeling, and practicing the rules, routines, and expectations of
the classroom throughout the month of September. I would appreciate it if you would let your
child know that you support the classroom rules and expect them to always do
their best.
I am confident your child will have a
successful and positive school year.
This is an exciting time where children learn and refine concepts,
skills, and ideas. Please feel free to
stop by anytime. I’m looking forward to
meeting and working with you and your student.
Thank you for the
opportunity to teach your child.
Stephanie Andersen
