Welcome to Room 662’s web page
Mr. Harlor's Class
Welcome
to the 2005-2006 school year. My name is
John Harlor and I will be your child’s teacher this year. I look forward to all of the experiences that
we will share. Working together is key
to your child’s success. I will be
keeping in contact with you through notes, phone calls, and Friday
newsletters. Please contact me anytime! My phone number is (253) 931-4978. My e-mail
address is jharlor@auburn.wednet.edu.

My
Absences:
If your child is absent, you must either call the school office at (253)
931-4978 or send a note the following day explaining the absence. Please try to schedule appointments (Doctor,
Dentist, etc.) for the end of the day when at all possible to avoid missing
class work.
Homework:
Homework is an important reinforcement to what happens in the
classroom. Homework is not optional and
is due on the following day unless otherwise stated. You can help by designating a quiet place and
a specified time each day for your child to complete his/her work. In addition to homework, students are also
expected to read and record their reading in a log each night. Students who do not return homework and a
reading log will be responsible for making up missed work during their
recess. I understand that families lead
busy lives and unexpected situations will arise. Simply write me a note if something comes up
that does not allow your child to complete his/her homework.
Supplies: A school newsletter was sent to the
homes of all registered students that included a supply list. Students will need the following materials:
*3 ring binder *notebook paper *10 dividers *Pencil pouch
*Crayons (
*Pencils / Erasers
* Box of tissues
We will be learning organization and study skills
in the classroom. Look through your
child’s binder weekly. Please take
the time to discuss what is in it and supply any refills as necessary.
Discipline:
A copy of my classroom discipline plan is included. Please read through and review it with your
child. We will be discussing and practicing
rules during the month of September and as needed throughout the year. Please communicate with your child your
support for these classroom rules and encourage them to always do their best as
we become responsible third graders.
Third
grade is a time of exciting social and academic development. We will learn many new skills and
concepts. Pease stop by any time to
visit, observe, or eat lunch with your child.
I look forward to meeting you in the near future.
Sincerely,
John Harlor
