News Three
September  – Grade 3 - Mrs. Weiman

RESPECTFUL

Our Explorer word for September is Respectful.  Each time your child is helpful to someone else or follows school guidelines they are showing respect.  When you notice your child being respectful at home, (ex. saying something kind, helping out, etc.), please drop me a note telling me what he/she has done!

GOALS

The students are enthusiastic and excited about 3rd Grade. Our goal for the year is to be proud of ourselves and our work, and to always do our best. I hope you can share in their enthusiasm and help them achieve their goal. Our class motto is:

  1. Who are we? Totally terrific third graders
  2. What do we like to give? Put ups
  3. What do we like to make? Good choices

REMINDERS

School notices and corrected papers will usually go home on Thursday. All of these papers will be in their binder in their Take Home folder. Giving “pats on the back” for good papers and talking over the “not so good” ones will help build a positive attitude.

PERSONALS

I have just started our “STAR STUDENT OF THE WEEK”. I look forward to getting to know your child better. This is a fun week for getting to have special recognition by their classmates, sharing some pictures, and inviting a lunch guest. I will let you know when it is getting near your child’s week.

AR

AR (accelerated reader) is a program where children read books at their specific tested reading level.  They read a book and then take a comprehension test on it which shows the student and myself how they are doing. The goal is for them to increase their AR reading level during the year. I will start expecting the kids to have an AR book for their reading log starting in October. The kids will be able to check one out each week from the library.
