NEWS RELEASE
Auburn School Board to Recognize Georgia Norg,
Evergreen Heights Elementary School Fifth Grader

On Monday, January 24, the Auburn School Board of Directors will recognize Georgia Norg, Evergreen Heights Elementary School fifth grader, for being an excellent student. “Georgia is a well-rounded student who earns A’s in her academics. Her best subjects are reading and language,” says Georgia’s teacher, Mr. Cliff Tafoya. Georgia is learning to play the violin; loves to read; and plays on her school’s basketball and volleyball teams. “Georgia is a great team player and role model both on and off the basketball court. She is also a classroom representative for ASB. She is always at the meetings and shows great responsibility for her job. Overall, Georgia is a great role model here at Evergreen Heights!” said Ms. Ashley Martinson-Voshell, Evergreen Heights basketball coach and ASB advisor. Ms. Heather Burtts, Georgia’s first grade teacher and volleyball coach, knows Georgia well. “Georgia was a student in my first grade class. I remember her to be respectful and a friend to all her classmates. As a fifth grader, she is thoughtful, hardworking, willing to take risks, and to rise to challenges in academics and socially. She has a desire to do the right thing and is always prideful of her accomplishments. Even in first grade, Georgia read above grade level and her number sense and basic math facts were second nature for her. She also excelled in art.” Georgia’s hobbies include reading and working on the computer.

For more information, contact Superintendent Linda Cowan at (253) 931-4914.
